Maher Primary Classrooms
Three New Rooms Built
When we asked Maher Primary principal Prisca Mumba what she needed most, she was unequivocal: additional classroom space. Maher was just bursting at the seams with over two hundred students. Given the existing facility, this meant that several of the older grades were set up outside on the side porches, leaving students open to hot sun and drenching rains alike.

Local craftsmen
Our band of volunteers was not equipped to build entire classrooms on our own. Nor would we want to. As with all of our projects, we partnered with excellent local craftspeople.
Be there with us
More footage of these classrooms in use and interviews with the students are forthcoming! In the meantime, check out other terrific video shot by one of our talented volunteers, Avery Vanduine, on our YouTube channel.
It took a village
In December of 2024, we unveiled three new permanent classrooms—including several dozen sturdy desks. This means that 75+ kids now have a safe and comfortable place to learn.
Just the beginning
In June 2025 we’ll be painting and sprucing up Maher even more, all while touring other schools in Livingstone and the surrounding area in need. Onward and upward!
